Panel Discussion "Our Opera is a Village – Operndorf Afrika - the State of Things"

In a panel discussion, Aino Laberenz talks about the artistic concept of the project and its potential for the region in Burkina Faso. In exchange with Matthias Lilienthal (Artistic Director of Kammerspiele München), the comparison with the vision of Christoph Schlingensief is also intensified. Lilienthal, like Laberenz, accompanied the idea from the very beginning and worked closely with Schlingensief. The conversation will be led by cultural scientist Marcel Bleuler.

"Long Distance Call - Das Operndorf Afrika im Kunstpalais"
More than ten years ago, Christoph Schlingensief laid the foundation stone for the Opera Village Africa. Since then, the art project has developed beyond Burkina Faso and the African continent to become an internationally renowned cultural institution and was expanded in 2015 to include an artist-in-residence programme. Long Distance Call - Operndorf Afrika at the Kunstpalais offers the four artists in residence in Germany in 2020 another opportunity to come together, which includes a two-week exhibition and a diverse programme of events.
