Think We Must düsseldorf photo+ Biennale for Visual and Sonic Media

May 13 – June 19, 2022

We are very excited that the Opera Village Africa will be represented at this year’s düsseldorf photo+ – Biennale for Visual and Sonic Media. While this year’s edition addresses questions such as “how can we think in images? And how can we emancipate the image from the given narrative and thus imagine what it can become?”, the extensive discursive program looks to examine power structures and how they define the course of history.

Join us for a roundtable on “New Ways of Working Together”, a conversation about power-critical consciousness in curating, practicing and mediating between Akinbode Akinbiyi (artist/curator), Max Jorge Hinderer Cruz (artistic director of Akademie der Künste der Welt Cologne), Aino Laberenz (artist/managing director Operndorf Afrika), Pola Sieverding (artist and artistic director düsseldorf photo+) and Vivien Trommer (co-curator Dialoge im Wandel at K21).
