Review KIFIFE

The fourth edition of our children and youth film festival KIFIFE took place in the Opera Village Africa in Burkina Faso from the 20th to the 24th June 2023. The festival was officially opened by the Regional Director of Culture and the President of the Special Delegation of the City of Ziniaré. This year, the Fesival has once again given children and young people the opportunity to awaken their curiosity about the film industry. At the same time, the festival provides an opportunity to strengthen the skills of the viewers themselves – so this year’s program included three workshops:

Pocketfilm, with Aboubacar Ismaël Geni-Massa TALL (Burkina Faso).
Training in image, video and acting, with Lionelle Eudoxi GNOULA (Burkina Faso)
Training in 2D painting and animation techniques, with Fidèle Gaétan KABRÉ (Burkina Faso)

In total, nearly 50 participants took part in the various workshops. In addition to the screenings in the Opera Village Africa, the festival program was complemented by other film screenings in the surrounding villages of Tamissi, Pousziga and Ziniaré. We were especially happy about the presence of our panel member Gaston Kaboré, who was available for a Q&A with the audience after the screening of his film Wendkouni and gave a deep insight into his artistic work.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our partners, the Goethe-Institut Ouagadougou, CNA as well as the Municipality of Ziniaré. We are very much looking forward to the fifth edition of KIFIFE in 2024!
