Free Panels

In addition to the film program, two discussion panels offer exciting insights into the intersections of film, activism, and artistic empowerment. On September 19, Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese (director and artist, This is Not a Burial, It’s a Resurrection), Kantarama Gahigiri (director and screenwriter, Terra Mater), and Ronnie Vitalia (queer activist and author) will discuss the role of cinema as a platform for political education, social movements, and ecological justice in the panel Activism and Political Cinema. The conversation will be moderated by ShaNon Bobinger.
On September 20, the panel Youth Protest, Art, and Patriarchal Structures follows, featuring Nada Riyadh (director, The Brink of Dreams), Ayman El Amir (director, The Brink of Dreams), and Andrea Voges. The panel is based on the film The Brink of Dreams, which shows how young filmmakers in restrictive contexts find their voice and create spaces for protest. The discussion will be moderated by Kemi Fatoba.
