Podcast-Workshop im Operndorf Afrika: Frauen erheben ihre Stimmen

As part of our Artist-in-Residence program, 15 participants from the Reading Sessions, organized in collaboration with Radio Awu from Senegal, were given the opportunity to explore the medium of podcasting. Under the guidance of an experienced sound technician, they learned how to conduct interviews and record audio using the “Zoom” recording device.

On-site, they discussed the topic of tontines – traditional savings groups – recorded the debate themselves, and listened to it together. The workshop was part of an expansion of our work in the field of women’s rights: since March, feminist podcasts have been complementing our Reading Sessions, allowing women to address societal issues from a female perspective. In the Opera Village, we offer a safe space for women from the region to talk about issues such as domestic violence, forced marriage, and women’s rights. The response has been overwhelming, with many women actively participating and exchanging their experiences.
