At a time when funding is becoming increasingly difficult due to numerous cuts, reliable partnerships are particularly important. One such partnership exists with the\u00a0<\/span>ZukunftSpenden Foundation<\/strong>. The foundation is committed to protecting natural habitats and preserving diverse ecosystems for future generations. A key focus is on projects for children and young people, providing them with knowledge about environmental and nature conservation and empowering them to take action. In addition, ZukunftSpenden supports initiatives that combine environmental protection with the improvement of living conditions in disadvantaged regions. The foundation\u2019s support of the school garden at the Operndorf Afrika is an important contribution to achieving these goals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The school garden is a central part of the Operndorf School\u2019s educational concept. It provides children with practical knowledge of agricultural methods, healthy nutrition, and sustainable use of natural resources. In cooperation with organizations such as Terra Verde, this knowledge is shared not only within the school but also with families and the wider community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The garden\u2019s harvest supplies the school cafeteria with fresh fruits and vegetables, directly contributing to the improvement of the children\u2019s nutrition. In Burkina Faso, where climate change, soil erosion, and irregular rainfall pose significant challenges to harvests, this project makes a tangible contribution to combating malnutrition.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Parents, particularly the mothers who run the cafeteria, are actively involved in managing the garden. This not only provides additional capacity but also ensures that knowledge and skills are passed on to families.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The project demonstrates how education, food security, and sustainability can be effectively combined. By using resource-efficient techniques such as drip irrigation and erosion control, the foundation is helping to ensure stable yields over the long term.
